Farmhouse Living Room

Hello everyone!  I am so glad to be back to my normal hours this week.  I have missed all of you!  I wanted to show you what I have been working on this weekend.  Several weeks ago, we bought two new recliners.  They look like distressed leather, but are really cloth.  I wanted to restyle my living room to give them a farmhouse setting.

Our house has a family room, too, and that is the larger room where our kids and company hangs out.  This room, though, is where my hubby and I spend most of our time.  It's really a glorified hallway since it has five doorways and two large windows.  It makes arranging things very challenging.  I don't know why they didn't think of that when they were building this house in 1920!

The lamp in this photo was stark white with a girly shade and just didn't work.  I painted it green and gave it a coat of dark wax.  A burlap looking shade was just the thing it needed.

I found the barn oil painting at a yard sale last summer and finally hung it on these old shutters.

I think things are finally coming together.  I had a little sliver of wall space between two doorways and no furniture could be put there, so I hung a quilt.

I really want to paint and distress our TV cabinet.  It's on the list of projects!  I bought a cow poster at the auction several years ago and had it framed.  It is really large and the framing was a bit pricey, but I love it!  I just called it my Christmas gift that year.

Well, that's how the living room looks right now.

I have a little bit yet to do, but I am loving the farmhouse vibe!
