Perseverance

We had a pretty nice day today for February.
It was sunny and about 45 degrees, so I decided to take up my walking again.  A while back, I was up to 4 miles, but today, I could only manage one mile.  I thought the EMTs were going to have to come and get me!  I guess the saying is true that if you don't use it, you lose it.  I felt really discouraged.  Then, I started looking at my flower beds and saw all these little shoots coming up.
Some of their edges are brown and dry from the winter winds, but they are perservering.
Even though the calendar says February, they are not letting that stop them.
The hyacinths may not look like much now, but give them a little more time, and they will be such a pretty purple with a sweet scent.
The pansies are greening up in the old bucket.
Pretty soon, I felt encouraged and hopeful.  Right now, I may be like this little shoot ..just barely breaking ground.
But, hopefully, before long I'll be in full bloom walking my four miles again.
We just have to start where we are and work from there. Do you have any goals for spring?  Have a blessed day my friends!
xoxo, Jean
P.S.  I wanted to update you on my caffeine post.  I haven't had any soda or caffeine since 12/31/12.  Please keep good thoughts coming my way since this is still very hard for me.  However, I have discovered that I like water...who knew?  Sharing with Vintage Inspiration .

  2. Look at all the beautiful green shoots you have coming up!! Everything will be blooming soon!
Best of luck with your caffeine plan! I do consume some caffeine in the tea I drink a few times a week. And a piece or two of chocolate from time to time. And the one root beer float I splurge on once a year. (no actually, the root beer I get doesn't have caffeine.) But other than that... I am not addicted to caffeine. I have no problem getting up and moving in the morning with anything other than the milk in my cereal or small glass of orange juice with my eggs. And I will keep it that way. My husband can't do anything without two cups of coffee in the morning.

  3. All we can do is take one day at a time. I walk every day, but it is for the dogs' benefit. If I did not have them, I doubt I'd be out in the cold weather. I do enjoy walking in pretty weather, though.
Jean, I want to ask you about the cow in your header. Is it a photo you have in your home? It's such a cute face!
